Chiropractic care - Testimonials
"You're going to feel better than ever."
by Ethel Mitrovic
For almost a year, I had a persistent back ache. If I stood on my feet for any length of time, I would get pain in both legs. I feared I would have to give up my part-time nursing job because of the leg pain I experienced. Two months ago, I started experiencing sudden pain and cramping in my left index finger. To use my left hand, even for short duties, would cause excrutiating pain. I love gardening and pottery, but the pain in my hand made these things impossible. Both that and the back aches and leg pain were threatening my gardening abilities to the point where I was considering giving up my community garden plot next spring. It got to the point where I was basically unable to use my left hand.
After my back and leg pain began, I visited my medical doctor. At that time, X-rays were taken which determined that I had arthiritis in my back, knees, and wrists. My doctor prescribed Celebrex, an anti-inflammatory drug, however the medication only provided short-term relief. Even worse, the Celebrex was starting to give me severe stomach pains.
In the past I had visited a chiropractor for acute back strain symptoms. On every occasion, I always had a positive outcome. With a background in nursing, I am well aware that many physicians react negatively to chiropractic care – but I definitely feel it does a person more good than most medications. Pills that I have taken in the past haven’t done anything but mask symptoms. So, I figured that an approach that avoided giving the patient lethal poisons in small doses must have something going for it.
On my first visit to Hardick Chiropractic Centre, Dr. Hardick took X-rays to determine whether chiropractic could help me. Initially, I was hoping for an ultrasound treatment for my cramping left finger, since a chiropractor had used ultrasound for pains in the past. Instead, Dr. Hardick opted to correct the subluxations in my neck and low back. This gave me almost immediate relief of my finger and hand cramps. Gradually, the back aches and leg pains began to disappear as well.
Just a few short weeks since starting my care at Hardick Chiropractic Centre, I am back at the potter’s wheel, and am working at my part-time nursing job with a lot less discomfort.
I am convinced that chiropractic care corrects the underlying cause of a condition rather than going after symptoms alone. Initially, adjustments may take longer to restore a person to the good health they once enjoyed, but once that good health is back, you are going to feel better than you ever would on drugs.
