Helen's chiropractic recovery after relying on a walker and 5 medications per day
Three months ago, my health was deteriorating and I was in pain every day. I had very sharp pains in both legs, which was worse in the right leg. I had been sent for a bone density test by my doctor, which showed nothing but a little degeneration in the lower section of my spine. One day, when my pain was much worse, I called my doctor for help, but he refused to see me because he too busy. I went to Walk-in Clinic, where they prescribed pain killers and sent me for X-rays. According to the Walk-in Clinic, the X-rays didn't show any problems. One day later, I could not hold up my body and I was forced to rent a walker. Soon after, an ambulance took me to the hospital, for more X-rays and more medications. The hospital diagnosed a pinched nerve at the lower section of my spine, but they weren't able to do anything to relieve my pain or improve my function.
After we returned home from the hospital, my husband consulted our doctor, to ask what could be done. I hadn't slept for over 17 days. I spent nights screaming and crying just trying to turn a little bit in my bed. My doctor prescribed new medications, including morphine, in addition to the arthrotec and Tylenol 3 I was already taking. Ultimately, my doctor had me taking 5 medications, but none were helping. Finally, two days after my visit to the hospital, I decided to see a chiropractic doctor.
Fortunately, my granddaughter knew Hardick Chiropractic Centre and she drove me directly to Dr. Hardick's office. I was so desperate from my pain, I did not care where she was taking me, as long I could find somebody to relieve me from that pain. Finally, I did find the right place.
Initially, Dr. Hardick took a couple of X-rays and he sent me home. The same night he called me at home and said that he found the problem and he believed that he could help me. The next day I visited his office, where he explained my X-rays to me, showed me the source of my problem in my spine. He indicated the process would be slow but positive. I started my care, and my husband started getting adjusted, too! I was walking better within a week. I was able to get up and down from my bed much easier after a month. I returned the walker to its owner.
At the present time, I feel much better. I do not use the walker, or even the cane, any more. The pain is gone. While I do feel tired when I walk a certain distance, I am not in pain. I know that as time goes on, and I keep up with my adjustments, I will continue to improve.
Three months ago I was using a walker and taking more medications than my body could handle. Now, I am free of all of it! As I continue with chiropractic care, I positively believe that I am going to be OK.
